Everything Stephanie Ruhle Has Said About Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to be grilled by MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle on September 26 in a highly anticipated interview in the political landscape.
As part of the network’s ongoing coverage of the 2024 election cycle, this interview could be crucial in addressing some of the key questions and critiques surrounding Harris’s policy positions and leadership.
Harris could either falter and drop in the polls or shine and surge ahead of Donald Trump in the race for the White House.
Ruhle, known for her sharp questioning and with a strong track record of reporting on the economy, is a long-time member of the MSNBC team and host of the nightly show The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhl.
On Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Ruhle appeared to defend Harris after host Bill Maher criticized the incumbent vice president’s policies.
“She is in a tricky position because Joe Biden is currently the commander in chief, and she’s the VP,” Ruhle told Maher.
“So it’s very difficult for anybody in her position to kind of thread this needle and say, ‘Here’s what we should do; here’s our plan’ when he’s the current commander in chief.”
“She’s in this weird space of like an improv show, of like a ‘yes, and,’ ‘Yes to what he’s doing, and I think we should do this.’ So it’s especially tricky.”
New York Times columnist Bret Stephens, who was a panelist on the show, said Harris needs to be more specific when addressing policy questions during interviews.
Ruhle disagreed, responding that Harris doesn’t need to be “perfect” and emphasized that voters already know what Donald Trump intends to do if he wins November’s election, framing Harris as a preferable alternative in a two-choice election.
“Kamala Harris is not running for perfection. She’s running against Trump. We have two choices. And so there are some things you might not know her answer to. And in 2024, unlike 2016 for a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and the kind of threat he is to democracy,” Ruhle said.
Ahead of the first debate between Trump and Harris, Ruhle hosted a segment on her show in September and said people “know very little” about Harris.
In the same segment before the first debate, Ruhle said both candidates “are good debaters.”
“Kamala Harris is a prosecutor; this is her jam,” she said.
Ruhle previously interviewed Harris to discuss a bipartisan stimulus package that was unanimously passed to help Americans struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Ruhle grilled Harris on nurses taking “drastic measures” to protect themselves during PPE shortages and backlogs.
Harris appeared to hesitate in her response to the questions.
This shows that despite defending Harris on Bill Maher, Ruhle has a history of asking her tough questions on key issues.
Stephanie Ruhle joined MSNBC in April 2016 as an anchor. She initially hosted the 9 a.m. hour of MSNBC’s weekday programming and has since become a prominent figure at the network, hosting The 11th Hour and serving as a senior business correspondent for NBC News.
It is expected to feature a discussion on key policy issues such as the economy and inflation.
The interview will likely focus on Harris’ economic agenda and delve into the campaign’s economic policies to help Americans.
However, Harris has faced a wave of criticism from dodging questions and giving vague answers on matters concerning policy.
Ruhle has previous experience working reporting on economics-centric
MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle will interview Kamala Harris this evening for a one-on-one interview, the vice president’s first individual to sit down with a national network since becoming the Democratic nominee for president.
The interview will air at 7 p.m. ET on a special two-hour edition of All In with Chris Hayes.
CNN’s Dana Bash interviewed Harris and Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Walz last month, their first joint sitdown. The network aired the interview as part of a one-hour primetime special.
Since then, Harris has given interviews to local media outlets and podcasts. Donald Trump has made frequent media appearances.
According to Fox News, the Trump and Vance ticket has done 58 interviews since the Harris-Walz ticket was formed, compared to 21 interviews for the Democratic presidential ticket so far.
